Overview

Album Rambler ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it.

By using Album Rambler, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Data We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide the app's features:

  • Account data — your email address and display name, used to create and identify your account
  • Ramble data — albums listened to, distance walked, duration, mood, and any reflections you choose to log
  • Location data — GPS coordinates recorded during a ramble to draw your route map. Location is only collected while a ramble is active
  • Health data — step count and workout data written to Apple Health, if you grant permission. We do not read any existing Health data
  • Music data — album and track information accessed via Apple Music to power playback. We do not store your listening history beyond your rambles

How We Use Your Data

  • To provide core app functionality — tracking rambles, saving history, and generating insights
  • To display your route map and walking statistics
  • To generate AI-powered album insights and recommendations (Premium feature). Album titles are sent to Anthropic's API for this purpose — no personal data is included
  • To manage your subscription via Apple's StoreKit

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.

Third-Party Services

Album Rambler uses the following third-party services:

  • Supabase — secure cloud database for storing your account and ramble data (EU region)
  • Apple MusicKit — for album search and playback
  • Apple HealthKit — to log workouts, only if you grant permission
  • Anthropic Claude API — to generate album insights. Only the album title and artist name are sent — no personal information

Location Data

Location access is used solely to track the route of your walk during an active ramble. Location data is:

  • Only collected when a ramble is in progress
  • Stored securely and associated with your account
  • Never shared with third parties
  • Controllable via the "Show Route on Cards" toggle in your profile settings

Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at hello@albumrambler.com.

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict processing of your data
  • Data portability

Children

Album Rambler is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this URL with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
